Year of the šŸ‰

Updated: Feb 29

This year, the year of the dragon, I will celebrate a big birthday. According to the Chinese zodiac people born under this sign are courageous, generous, ambitious, perfectionest, and inordinately lucky and successful. I'll let others be the judge of this, but I do like a challenge and believe that you get out as much as you put into things you love. In short I am looking forward to what is certain to be an eventful year.

Back to business! After a restful festive season, work in the pottery studio has begun again with renewed energy. There are lots of things to be excited about in 2024 ... a full calender of art events including Craftworks B2B show, The Black Artisans portrait project, and a trip to the Paris Olympics

Over the last few months, I have been investing a lot of time expanding my black and white speckles range to include tea sets, rice bowls and shot glasses, which have been really well received. So 2024 will see me adding more product choices, such as plates, serving bowls, cruet sets, and lidded jars to allow customers to start building their collection of table ware. A bit more colour in my work will make an appearance too!

My calendar this year is looking rather full as I try to seek out different events to bring my work to buyers. In this economic climate, art and craft events can be unpredictable and they are definitely exhausting. But they are a necessary part of my work to create awareness and generate sales. I have found fairs to be a good way to test products and receive instant feedback from customers on my ceramic work. Hence the addition of handles to cups. Events are also helpful in spotting any emerging trends and the generosity of other artists always provides invaluable trading tips.

Watch out for my upcoming 2024 events...

Until next time!
